New Zealand conjures stunning natural beauty & pristine wilderness

Colourful thermal landscape in New ZealandThere aren’t many places in the world where you can hike a glacier and explore a rainforest on the same day. You’ve found one in New Zealand. With almost 20% of its landmass preserved as national parkland – and 10% a World Heritage Area – New Zealand conjures stunning natural beauty, pristine wilderness, and limitless opportunities for adventure. It is a small country, but so diverse that it offers something for everyone.

New Zealand is one of the newest landmasses in the world, as seen in its raw and unspoiled mountains, fjords, and glaciers. It is the world capital of adventure sport, and whether you dive, ski, sail, raft, skydive or bungee jump, you will find unparalleled opportunities for an adrenalin rush here. At the same time, the azure lakes, gorgeous coast and pastoral landscapes offer a sense of tranquility that is like stepping back in time. Bird watchers and fishermen, wine aficionados and walkers all find New Zealand to be a natural paradise. Even the cities provide a rich, diverse experience, from sophisticated Auckland and vibrant Wellington to stately Christchurch. And no matter where you go in New Zealand, one common thread always present is its warm, hospitable people.

There isn’t room here for all of the places we think are worth a mention, but these definitely merit a closer look:
Kaikoura

Swim with seals or dolphins and spot whales right off the coast all year around in this paradise for marine mammal lovers. And on a clear day, framed by massive mountains, it’s one of the breathtaking spots on the planet.

Devonport

There’s a lot to do in and around Auckland, but this charming section of the city, right on the water with the feel of a seaside village, is one of our favorites. Only 15 minutes by ferry from the center of Auckland.

Martinborough

If you’re looking the perfect, picture post card village among the vineyards in New Zealand, this is the place. Bike to dozens of wineries from the town square.

Wellington

Our favorite city in New Zealand, where the sophistication of its restaurants, café culture and nightlife belie its small size. Visit the world renowned Te Papa Museum, or just ride the cable car to the Botanic Gardens and soak in the amazing view.

Abel Tasman National Park

The sunniest spot in New Zealand, where you can hike on a forest trail and kayak to a secluded beach all in the same day.

Wanaka

Queenstown’s quiet cousin, Wanaka’s location on the shores of a glacial lake with towering mountains as a backdrop is second to none. And it has a relaxed pace all its own.

Queenstown

A vibrant South Island town in a gorgeous setting that is the gateway to the Southern Alps and is the adventure sports capital of New Zealand.
